Our first Impact Report

Where ideas can become reality

We’re proud to announce the publication of our first ever Impact Report. Find out what we do here at Brimscombe Mill and how our businesses are giving back to the local community.

Brimscombe Mill is not just a great place to spend time, eat incredible food, and browse brilliant shops. It’s the realisation of a new type of economy, one where profits are invested to deliver social and environmental benefits.

The report captures the amazing achievements of the social enterprises found at Brimscombe Mill - some highlights being:

  • Providing 63,084 hours of employment on site, with jobs ranging from full time Monday to Friday, to part time hours that fit around family life.

  • Providing 83,649 meals for our community, including school meals, meals eaten at the Mill and freezer of love meals.

  • Reusing 300 tonnes of items through our enterprises - including bikes, furniture, toys, food and household appliances.

  • Responding to 941 referrals. Our referral schemes provide free or heavily subsidised items to individuals and families, including children's bundles, bikes, furniture, sports club places and house clearances.

  • Hosting activity sessions for 17,760 children and families. This includes PE lessons, after school clubs, holiday clubs, children and family activities at the Mill and teenage cooking courses in our glade.

We are grateful to have some grant support from Barnwood Trust, the NHS and Diocese of Gloucester, but the majority of these successes were made possible thanks to you. By visiting the Mill, spending time here and purchasing from our businesses, you are helping build this community, and proving that a new, kinder economy is possible.
